Programs

In order to accomplish these objectives, the ACC offers the following programs, all free to the public.

1.     Speaker’s Bureau

A representative of ACC is available to visit churches, schools, and civic groups to present lectures on Islam, the Middle East, and Arab culture and affairs. The following topics and others related can be addressed :

2.     Continuing Education

Courses are available on Islam, the Middle East, Islamic Civilization, and Arabic language. Current courses meet for three hours per week for four weeks.  Participants  receive  a  certificate  of participation.

3.     Correspondence Courses

 

For those unable to attend continuing education classes but wishing to learn about the Middle East and Islam, ACC provides instructional materials by mail or via the internet.

4.     Lecture Series

 

The ACC offers public lectures by specialists on Islamic and Middle Eastern issues on a monthly basis.

5.      Sunday Discussions

Informal discussions on any issue of interest, not restricted to Islam or the Middle East, are held each Sunday from 2 p.m. - 6 p.m. at the ACC.

6.     Open House

This is a yearly event whereby some aspects of Middle Eastern life will be exhibited. Middle Eastern food will be served.

7.     Middle East Gourmet Cooking

This is a once a month four hour course. In this course participants will learns hands on how to cook a Middle Eastern meal. After the course the participants will sample what they cooked.  

8.     The Ambassador's Circle

This is a two full day course designed especially for those who are from the Middle East or Islamic countries. This workshop is to prepare the participants to give talks and lectures about various Middle Eastern and Islamic topics.  

9.  National Heritage Day

The ACC is undertaking an effort to bring different ethnic minorities in our community to the mainstream by having different groups (Hispanics, Chinese, Arabs etc.) come to the center and share some of their cultural values with others who might be interested.

10. Prison Ministry

The ACC is maintaining ties with local prisons in an effect to supply them with Qurans and other Islamic materials.

11.  Interfaith Dialogues

One of the main objectives of the ACC is to encourage civilized productive dialogues not only between Christian and Muslims but also among Christian groups themselves and other world faiths. Here we hope to reestablish and  enhance the positive relationship among world’s faiths.
